*Another question went answered, so she decided to call Walthari “Walty.” Silly yes, but close.*

*Many wondered how she and Umiko were related. She was more mature while the other was not. Both had different hair colors and their hair styles barely matched. Eri’s impatience was difficult to handle. If something was needed, she always pulled on her sister’s arm. As a little girl, she whined if she never got what she wanted. Her parents always had to calm her. If asked, Umiko would have said “she’s annoying and always hogs the attention.” Although they were young, she viewed Eri as an annoyance. Always needy and clueless.*

*Umiko and a few other people had high tolerance. They usually ignored or assured her. The red head disliked waiting for things. Such as microwaving food and waiting for doctors to help her pokemon. Most of the time she walked back and forth and asked if something was completed yet. This happened around five times until she was told to wait. Not wanting to make a scene, she usually sat down quietly and wriggled her toes.*

*Having no clue about Asada or Team Eternity, it was obvious she had a lot to learn. Though she was not really at fault. None of the other regions were military based. Most criminals wanted to make money, take over the world or steal things. Murders were rare.*

*As the simple words reached her ears, she nodded* ah I see. Okay that makes sense. Man you were using a lot of big words that I couldn’t understand *she admitted sheepishly.*

*She did not notice the mocking tone in his voice.*

*When the female grabbed his arm, she noticed it was slightly rough. Not like cardboard, but maybe muscular. Her slightly pale fingers were wrapped around his upper arm. Looking up at the male, she assumed he was a super strong guy. Even though the guess was probably incorrect. They did not know each other. How could she know?*

Wow he sure has big arms *she thought, her eyes concentrated on the red sleeve. The red velvet cloth pressed against her fingers.* I bet he’s a wrestler!

*A second later, she felt his arm slipping away from her fingers. Trying to hold on, she tightened the grip* h-hey!

*Avoiding eye contact, she listened the words crashing over her head. Feeling his cold glare on her, she talked back to show she was unafraid. Even though she was.*

*Shutting her eyes, she raised her voice slightly. She sounded as if she were about to cry* I just wanna battle you! Please?!?! I wanna get to know you! Is that so wrong?!?! Why are you so grumpy?!!!?

Blaze doesn’t speak immediately, his focus on removing the girl from his arm.

“Learn what personal space is.” He says firmly, his tone is still incredibly chilly.

This is the face that other champions didn’t like. Cynthia didn’t care for Blaze and with good reason, Alder pittied him in private, Iris he hadn’t met, Lance merely stared him down coldy, and while Wallace had spoken politely they never had been on the best of terms.

Blaze was indeed the oddest Champion in the circle. He didn’t parcipate in conferences, and only occassionally spoke to them via video conference.

“Have you come close to beating a member of the Elite four of any Region?” Blaze asks dryly still prying her off of him.

Great, loud and determined to bother him. A terrible combination.

*When her questions went unanswered, she crossed her arms and made a pouty face.*

Hmnnn you’re a lot harder to deal with than I thought. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something?

*His tone was like an ice, which made her shiver, like outside. Almost as if he were trying to turn her into ice.*

What’s up with this guy? I just ask him stuff and he goes nuts. It’s like he hates me or something. I thought all Champions were nice, but this guy takes the cake *she mused, still staring in disbelief. She listened to his explanation about pokemon-stealing and realized he was right. He sounded pretty honest. If pokemon were being stolen he would have told her.*

*The mention of Walthari made her raise an eyebrow* Walt who? Walty? *His name was difficult to pronounce.* And what’s the ATLA?

*Confused, she scratched her head and tried to recollect the words he threw at her. Team Eternity? Killers? Walthari? It sounded too crazy to believe, but even if it was not real she still would have fallen for it.*

*Once his story was completed, she stared at him for a long moment. Dazed and blank, she allowed her hand to fall to the side. Her mouth opened to say something, but nothing came out. It was just an “o” shape. Her left eye twitched slightly.*

*There was silence. Behind her, the chair kept lying on the floor. They appeared to be ignored.*

*Once she thought she could understand, she repeated his explanation in her own definition.*

Okay okay *she waved her hands in front of herself, as if they were trying to press the pause button. She was bewildered.* So let me get this straight. You’re saying some bad guys named Team Eternity are killing people. And you’re saying normal people can’t stop them? And then they won the battle but then the ATLA stood again? And the bad guys are still running around beating people? For 14 years?

*Surprised that he refused the challenge, she gave him a questionable look. All Champions had to accept challenges, it was their job. Blaze’s response made her believe he was lazy or making up excuses. Even if she lost at least she got a taste of his power. It was like candy. Also, she wanted to get stronger. Losing was a way to fix her mistakes.*

Oh come on Blaze you’re just making excuses! *Going over to his side, she started pulling him by the arm. Obviously the physical contact was going to throw him off. They were not friends and she had no knowledge of Asadan culture. She was almost like a five-year-old.*

*An impatient tone laced her voice* please please please?!?! I promise it’ll be quick! One on one! Or a full battle! Whatever you like! I don’t care if I lose!

Blaze’s eyes glance down at the teen, his expression still icy.

“It doesn’t matter if I woke on the ‘wrong’ side or not.” Blaze replies, his tone clipped.

However, at her attempts at pronouncing Walthari’s name he doesn’t bother to correct her or restate his name. She doesn’t really need to know it. It’s not important to her.

She’s not going to be here very long anyways.

Just long enough to figure out how to get her back to Unova. Without causing an international crises. That was all. Nothing more, nothing less.

Closing his eyes he sighs. This girl was taking a long time to catch on. He’d stated the current situation clearly had he not? He’d described the maniac, and the killers? Yes.

“Basically Team Eternity kills. ATLA fights them.” He speaks dully.

There’s a slightly mocking tone to his voice.

Maybe she’d understand that.

Not long after this however her hands grasp onto his arm and his facial expression hardens even moreso, if that was possible. Chilling eyes gaze down at the girl.

“You have just done two very foolish things.” Blaze’s tone is cold, more chilling than winter itself as he pries her off his arm.

“Asadans in general do not appreciate having people hang off them. Myself doubly so. Secondly, you assume it’d be a battle. You wouldn’t last two minutes. I’ve been champion for thirteen years…Uncontested.”

He’s had few battles in the thirteen years as champion. But he’s kept his skill sharp, deadly.

His Pokemon are the only individuals he can count on…They’re the only ones that have ever been there for him through it all…

*To Eri, this was turning out to be a weird yet amazing day. Firstly she somehow ended up in Asada when she was supposed to be in Unova. Asada was still new to her. Secondly she went into an office and met a grumpy looking man. To her surprise he was the Champion. Thirdly, Team Eternity became a new term to learn. Amazement and curiosity danced in her eyes.*

*Her heart pounded in excitement and she tried to keep still. Still standing in front of the desk, she looked as if she were about to rocket through the roof. A large grin was glued to her face. Sending a hyperactive girl away was going to be a chore.*

*As the baby blue opticals gazed at Blaze, Eri listened to his explanation. Very slowly, her large grin began to fade. At first she was confused, but her mind broke each section to pieces. It was how she learned things. Baby steps were a way to go,*

Wow so this is the Asada region? It’s so cool. I got eight badges from my home region and lots more from others! I still need to get Unova’s, but I still have lots of money! But I don’t know the professor here. What’s his or uhh her name? And what’s a lock down?

*Tilting her head she furrowed her brow* Team Eternity? Wait *she straightened her head and rubbed the back of it* so you’re saying that they’re bad guys and doing bad stuff to trainer’s Are they stealing pokemon or something? Cause if they are I’ll be more than happy to help you! *She said happily, unaware of the actual dangers.*

*At that point, she almost squealed* OH MY MEW I’M TALKING TO A CHAMPION! AND IT’S THIS GUY RIGHT HERE! HEY HEY BLAZE CAN WE HAVE A QUICK BATTLE?!??!

Blaze decides to ignore the majority of her questions, sidestepping answering her about professor Cypress completely.

She didn’t need to know, nor was it relevant. She wasn’t going to stay here long enough for it to matter anyways.

“If they were simply stealing Pokemon they would have been dealt with a long time ago. I would have seen to that.” Blaze’s tone is cold.

He does not brook criminals and he will not allow them to operate.

“No, if they were simply doing that the ATLA would have simply gathered our strength and crushed them a long, long time ago. They’re a paramilitary cult with an obsession in the ‘god’ Walthari. They’re killers.” Blaze replies coldly.

“For thirteen years they’ve decimated the population of Asada and ran rampant doing as they please, killing as they will. But the problem isn’t that they’re evil. It’s that they’re a powerful enemy. Trainers are… For the most part no challenge for a Team Eternity Trooper to gun down. They’re cultists first, soldiers second, killers third.”

“Because of them the Asadan government fell… Thirteen years ago and the Pokemon League was reformed into the ATLA and was given emergency powers. I now am essentially both the Champion and the governmental head… Among other things.”

That wasn’t to say he didn’t face opposition.

Far, far from it. Because of his position he was often viewed as having ‘too much power’, o being ‘too indecisive’. The Elite four (by and large) opposed the Champion, and sought to undermine him and this was slowly throwing him into more of a gridlock politically.

Thankfully, Most of the Gym leaders had fallen in behind him, and that was the push he needed to stay in the controling power.

It was a little strange that the youngest member of the Elite Four was the only one that seemed at least approachable…Then again she was mostly stuck in books anyways.

However, he’s struck from his thoughts from an incessant squealing. Coming from… Of course. A young girl who’s been nothing but babbling.

“The last person I battled hadn’t been ready to battle at the level of champions and his pokemon were severely hurt. You’d need to prove yourself in the Asada League first. I don’t want to end up destroying your Pokemon’s confidence.”

It’s cold, harsh but he’s being kind in a way.

Blaze isn’t a generic trainer, and because of his hardened heart he’s become even more aggressive.

It’s a weakness overall but it does mean that many trainers can be more than overwhelmed.

“The what book of who now?” The trainer creased her brows, confused at this notion, “I’ve never heard of that region… Here I thought I knew it all! Huh, well if anything, I’ll bet there’s a library you’d be thinking of.. But the only real good one would be in Unova. ‘Fraid that’s a long while from Kanto, too.” She scratched the back of her head, uncomfortable at not being able to be more helpful.

image

“But uh, anyway, The name’s Leaf. I’m from this region, Pallet town actually. Though I’ve been through all regions. Or, well, so I thought before you came along. I’m a trainer myself.”

“The embodiment of Valcos.. And not ‘who’ but ‘what’. Valcos is Asada’s largest Mountain. ” Blaze expains.

It’s a book he’s not surprised she hasn’t heard of. It was rare even before Walthari went on his book destroying rampage.

“And it doesn’t surprise me that you haven’t heard of the region. It’s been sealed off for the past thirteen years. No one gets in… No one gets out.” He adds almost indifferently.

His leaving are heavily steeped in politics, a headache he’d rather not repeat or think about again. Next time odds are he’ll try to slip in unnanounced.

His personality is hardened by conflict, as if he hasn’t seen many days of warmth.

However, as she mentions that there are few libraries he sighs. He doubts that the intel was incorrect but it does mean that his job has just gotten far harder. It was possible of course. Faulty intelligence has happened before, but they had seemed very certain that the book had been spotted in Kanto a few years ago.

“A private library or collector possibly. That only will make my job harder.” He rubs one temple trying to keep the frustration from appearing on his face.

Walthari had destroyed those books for a reason.

He hadn’t wanted anyone to know what he was up to and while Champion’s isle had contained many of the great works, the vast majority of the great works had been stored on Trainer’s Isle… Which had been ransacked by Team Eternity early on.

Haulted in her journey to visit Pewter city, the young trainer glanced up at this much taller man, slightly confused at his question. “Library? Well, I wouldn’t know of a library ‘round here, unless you mean the fossil center up north,” She raised a pointed hand, just past the Pokémon Center, “Of course, I’d imagine that may not be what you’re looking for… That’s really the only thing in this town. You lookin’ for a certain book or information..?”

“I am.” Blaze agrees simply.

He, however realizes that this is an ineffective solution.

“I’m looking for a book that’s supposedly titled ‘Embodiment of Valcos’.”

The title seemed a bit strange since no connections to Valcos had been made between Mount Valcos and the Legendary Trio had been made, however, perhaps this book had information that would shed more light.

Or perhaps it was just the ramblings of a maniac.

“It’s… An old book on my region’s lore.” He explains.

Strange, he normally doesn’t volunteer that much information. However, habbit requires that he should introduce himself.

“I am Blaze Templar of the Asada Region.”

Yeah *she agreed* but that’s what traveling is. I came to Unova to collect badges and I like seeing new places. I like meeting new people and pokemon too. Unova and Hoenn are pretty cool places. Just like Sinnoh, Kanto and Johto.

*Clearly Eri knew nothing about Asada. It was far different than any other place. It was slightly military oriented and the citizens were cynical. Even Blaze looked unhappy with her presence. However, it was not her fault she was here. Someone was supposed to guard the door, but there was none. Luckily she managed to avoid Team Eternity.*

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?! *The female exclaimed, baby blue opticals as wide as dinner plates. Unaware that she was on Champion Isle, she became even more excited. Her heart pounded and she seemed to be having a sugar rush* y-you mean this is Champion Isle? The Pokemon League? Wow that’s so cool!

*Lifting her hands off the table, she was about to wave her arms around until she remembered his last few words. The second sentence was fine, but the third was odd. Finally she understood what he was hinting* wait Asada? You mean this is….? What’s Team Eternity? And are you saying you’re…the Champion?

*The red head assumed she needed eight more badges in order to challenge this league.*

Blaze rubs his temples slowly.

The girl was… Highly excitable and here he was trying to figure out a way to get her back to Unova.

Blaze merely stares at her for a long moment, his face stony. However, the Asadan waits until she finishes speaking before he walks some distance away from the desk. His hand rests on a bookshelf and his fingers drum thoughtfully on its rich surface.

“This is the Asada Region. Before it’s lockdown we were known as one of the most difficult regions to conquer for trainers. To enter you required four of your region’s gym badges. To begin as a trainer in Asada you needed to either have authorization from the Regional Professor, a large sum of money, or pass through the Trainer’s Elite Academy.” Blaze replies explaining the region itself.

“Team Eternity is a criminal organization that runs rampant and is the reason that you will not be allowed to leave the island. It’s incredibly dangerous at this time to travel. Especially for trainers.” Blaze adds, shooting her a look indicating that it wasn’t up for discussion.

“But yes, I am the current Champion of the Asada Region.”

Entering another Region wasn’t something Blaze tended to do. He was usually boggled down by work, but this had been important. They had recieved intel that a book of Asadan lore might still be within this far flung region and copying its contents was a high priorty.

They needed to know what Walthari was up to…

However, as he was walking through a surprisingly peaceful world; foriegn to the Asadan he notices something. A girl.

Blaze gives a faint nod at the woman.

“I’m looking for a library that’s supposed to be close by.” He states without preamble.

Have asks to answer

((Will do so when I return…. Probably after work… And possibly I’ll be able to draw them out… Maybe. Depends if I can find a flat enough surface that will work for my mouse. Depends. One certainly… Uh took me by surprise.))

Thanks! *She thanked and went over to the chair. Pulling it away from the desk, she plopped down and sank into the chair. She stretched her arms and place them behind her hand. She closed her eyes* ahhh much better.

*One eye opened. Peeking over at his paperwork, she said* ooh what’s all that about? A business deal or something? I’d totally buy something from you if it’s helpful for my pokemon.

*If someone else came into the room, he or she was bound to tell Eri she just got lucky. Asada was a dangerous region and she had not collected the badges yet. Worst of all she had no clue about Team Eternity. She did not know they were hiding and shooting people. Guns and swords were like taboo. She never wanted to use them, ever. She did not believe in them. They only harmed others.*

*When Blaze thought Unova was her home, she almost accepted the fact until she noticed he made a mistake* yeah…wait no Unova’s not my home *she chuckled nervously and put both hands up. She waved them as if to declare innocence and truth.* I said I was traveling in Unova. I’m from the Hoenn region. Have you heard of it?

*Having no clue about Iris, she began to wander what the Unova Champion was like. Facing him or her was like a long-life dream. She wanted it to happen so she could feel the flames dancing inside her. The feeling of excitement made her eyes blaze. She wanted to achieve that dream. Even if she lost she did not care. Fun and friendship mattered in a battle. Not skill or levels.*

*As she waited for his answer, she tapped her fingers against the back of her neck.*

*The man’s answer made her eyes increase in size. The girl gasped and jumped out of her chair. The pressure almost made it tip over and fall on the floor. Ignoring the loud bang it made, the energetic female allowed her excitement to conquer. She was too animated to care.*

WOW REALLY?!?! *The female exclaimed and leaned over the table so she and Blaze could look eye to eye. Enthusiasm blazed in her eyes. Her hands were planted on the hard surface.*

WHAT’S HE LIKE WHAT’S LIKE?!?! WHAT KIND OF POKEMON DOES HE USE! CAN HE BATTLE ME NOW? I WANNA MEET HIM! WHERE IS HE WHERE IS HE? I HAVE TO MEET HIM!

“Hoenn is even father away.” Blaze points out dryly.

Unova it was. Trying to ship her all the way to Hoenn would take even more resources that they frankly did not have. However, should they at least not try to return the girl it could cause international outrage and if that would happen the worst might.. They may even be attacked instead of Team Eternity.

Odds of that weren’t good but he had to consider it.

Blaze merely raises an eyebrow at her excitement, as if chiding her. His great height meant that as he was still standing still towered above the young girl.

A simple confirmation of his knowledge of the Asadan champion and she was over the moon? That was… Surprising.

“I would think so. You are on Champion Isle after all. The last challenge for any trainer who should manage to make their way past the Eight Gyms of Asada and The Elite Four… Not to mention to have the cunning to avoid Team Eternity as they do so.”

It was not an easy road. Only a handful had managed to make it in the last decade.

Oh okay alright *the human nodded. Even if she was not a business person she understood some were. It was the way of life. If someone liked business, that was fine.*

*Eri tried to look for a chair to sit on, but was unsure if he would allow her. He looked a little scary* Blaze…is there a chair I can sit on? My legs kinda hurt from walking.

*Asadan culture was new to her, obviously she was going to learn something new. Her sister mentioned them, so she was curious. Actually Eri was even more fascinated with Blaze’s jacket. The crimson cloth attracted her attention. It looked warm, cool, and comfy. She wondered if red was his favorite color.*

*Staring blankly at the paperwork, she was tempted to throw them and say “don’t sit here all day! Let’s go outside!” However, because Blaze was unhappy she restrained herself from doing so. Also she knew she was going to get in trouble.*

*When “Champion” was mentioned, she added* actually that’s why I’m traveling *both hands were placed on her waist.* You see I wanna be Champion some day and I wanna catch and befriend new pokemon. I’m supposed to be in Unova right now but you know…Something just happened….

So do you know who the Champion in this region is?

Blaze simply points to a chair on opposite of the side of the desk he had been working on. A seat for guests apparently.

Little to her knowledge the papers he was working detailed a plan on moving supplies from a depot to Talon’s rebels to further their strength. Without the supplies Talon would eventually be overwhelmed and rendered useless.

Blaze knew that that particular gym leader was more than essential and so moved to support the rebellious Asadan.

The papers were authorization and plans to move the supplies without being detected. Boring, but essential to survival.

“Unova? You’re a very long way from home.” Blaze comments as he quickly recalls the political setting.

Their champion was a young girl named Iris. She’d be useless in attempting to send the girl back. That wouldn’t work.

Contacting Unova’s Government wouldn’t work either as they had long blacklisted Asadan communications.

“I do.” Blaze agrees.

She didn’t ask for the champions name, nor does he feel any need to offer additional information.

His mind is currently on how he’s going to manage getting this child back to Unova. Currently the only way he can determine is by either smuggling or by teleportation.

Both carry considerable risks.
